Smoke and soot can adhere to
wall and ceiling surfaces. Smoke deposits can be very heavy and obvious or very
light and hardly noticeable. All affected walls, ceilings and woodwork must be
cleaned after a fire to remove any deposits and to insure complete removal of
any smoke odors. Under light
smoke damage, most walls and ceilings will return to the original appearance.
Heavier smoke deposits may discolor the surface paint and make repainting
necessary. These surfaces will be specially cleaned to prepare the surface to
accept painting.
